I Am Human
A couple of days ago I saw a homeless gentleman sitting outside of the gas station asking for money. People were passing him left and right as if he didn’t exist. But I can’t lie, I’ve done the same thing... Every now and then I would give money but for the most part I would turn my head the other way, pretending I didn’t see them... It was only a few years ago when I realized that simple acknowledgement goes a long way. After I pumped my gas, I wanted to go and give him some money. But not just money, I also wanted to engage him in a conversation. The look on his face as I approached him was priceless. His name was Charles and all he wanted was .99 to buy a hotdog. I gave him a little more than that to say the least, but afterwards we talked a little and he asked me to pray for him. I eventually want to get to a place where I can pray on the spot, but Charles is now on my daily prayer list and I will continue to do my best in engaging those less fortunate because they’re human too and it could easily be me on the other side... Love God + Love Self + Love Others
